A very different wedding | Durf & Biscuit | Arkansas Wedding Photographer

Lauren & Mike are not your typical couple. For starters, they are known as Durf & Biscuit to their family and close friends. When I photographed their wedding in June, they told me it would be a little *different*. A lot of people say their wedding will be different -- and it seldom is.

What greeted me was a truly down-to-earth and very quirky couple who knew EXACTLY what they wanted: A Star Wars-themed wedding with only a handful of close friends and family at her family's riverside weekend home in Heber Springs. The day included near perfect weather, a light-saber fight first dance, a Lego's guestbook, a very unique wedding dress, fireworks and the most bad-ass Millennium Falcon cake I had ever seen.

Engagements with Brianna and Caleb | Arkansas Wedding Photographer

It's very important to Brianna and Caleb.

The couple chose Caleb's family land near Vilonia, Arkansas as the setting for their spring engagement session on a perfect bluebird spring afternoon. Below are my favorites from their session.

Erin & Evan | Wildwood Park for the Arts | Little Rock Arkansas Wedding Photographer

For Erin and Evan, it was the Best Day Ever.

Erin and Evan were married on September 6, 2015 in a simply perfect and gorgeous ceremony at the gazebo overlooking the lake at Wildwood Park for the Arts in Little Rock, Arkansas. They continued their celebration with a reception on the parks main lawn. A big thanks goes to Natalie Scott with Tied with a Bow events for making Erin and Evan's wedding day vision a reality.

Bridals with Olivia | Trapnall Hall | Little Rock Arkansas Wedding Photographer

Olivia joked with me she was born in the wrong era. I kind of have to agree with her, sort of. Olivia has a love and a passion for all things vintage and you can see it in her look and style.

So when it came time to choose a venue for her bridal session, Trapnall Hall was the perfect location.

It's so important for any bride to choose a location, and a dress, that fits their personality and their style and Olivia was spot on with both.

Below are some of my favorites from her bridal photo session.

Portraits with Mariam and Kareem | Little Rock, Arkansas Wedding Photographer | KES Weddings

Mariam and Kareem reached out to me in late February inquiring about a fresh and new couples portrait session. The couple were recently married in California (where they currently live) but Mariam is from Arkansas. Several members of her family were not able to attend the wedding so they decided to have a post-wedding dinner and reception for close family and friends in March. They wanted a fresh series of intimate couples portraits while they were in town.

Our session was scheduled for mid-March and while we were hoping for some early Spring color, it was still very drab and dreary in Little Rock. I suggested Goodwin Manor as our location so we'd have a stunning home as our backdrop while not having to worry that trees and flowers were not yet blooming.

Our shoot day was as dull and dreary as you can imagine. Low and gloomy clouds were everywhere and fog was starting to set in. As you can see, the colors popped and it didn't matter that is was cloudy, their session and the photos came out perfect.

After I shared the images with Mariam and Kareem, Mariam sent me this e-mail,

"We LOVE the photos!! You have a great eye! We found the couple photos to be very intimate and personal, and the family and guest photos to be candid and genuine. There was some beautiful color contrast as well, and we especially loved the detail photos with the rings. We're thrilled with how they turned out, and I'm finding it difficult not to look at the photos whenever I have free time. Thank you so much!"
