Mary & Ben: Arkansas Wedding Photography

Mary and Ben Johnson were married on September 2, 2017 in a rooftop ceremony at the 300rd Third Tower, a private condominium residences in downtown Little Rock. They celebrated with their family and friends in their party room.

Here are a few highlights from their wedding. You can see their full gallery by going here:

A very different wedding | Durf & Biscuit | Arkansas Wedding Photographer

Lauren & Mike are not your typical couple. For starters, they are known as Durf & Biscuit to their family and close friends. When I photographed their wedding in June, they told me it would be a little *different*. A lot of people say their wedding will be different -- and it seldom is.

What greeted me was a truly down-to-earth and very quirky couple who knew EXACTLY what they wanted: A Star Wars-themed wedding with only a handful of close friends and family at her family's riverside weekend home in Heber Springs. The day included near perfect weather, a light-saber fight first dance, a Lego's guestbook, a very unique wedding dress, fireworks and the most bad-ass Millennium Falcon cake I had ever seen.

Best. Day. Ever.

For Erin and Evan, this was a simple fact. It was their best day ever.

Erin and Evan were married on September 6th, 2016. It was easily the hottest, most sticky-humid day of 2016. But from the perfect look on their faces, you'd never know it. Erin looked beyond perfect. Evan, handsome in every way.

Their ceremony and celebration took place at Wildwood Park for the Performing Arts in Little Rock. Erin's wedding planner, Natalie Scott did an amazing job with making everything perfect for Erin and Evan.

For the reception, Natalie Scott and her team, worked with Erin to fulfill her vision of a simple yet elegant, organic style to compliment the natural setting that is Wildwood.

A "Thank You" goes a long way.

As a wedding photographer, I love hearing the words "thank you." And it's not just me, all wedding photographers love hearing those two magic words.

Sadly, sometimes, I don't hear thank you at all. On occasion, when I deliver photos or even a wedding album, I never get any sort of feedback whatsoever from clients. I can usually tell early on who I will never hear from. It's usually the clients who don't communicate very much and when they do, it's usually brief. Like maybe one or two sentences.

It's not that I need to hear thank you or I go fishing for compliments. It's just nice to know that the work I did is appreciated.

For all those who never say thanks, all that sadness goes away when I get feedback like this.

Portraits with Fatimah and Ali | Garvan Woodland Gardens | Little Rock Arkansas Wedding Photographer

Fatimah reached out to me early last summer with a lovely e-mail and a simple request. She wrote, "I was looking through your albums and your photos are really wonderful. I was thinking of getting a wedding photo-shoot at some point this year. I’m already married but I did not have a wedding so my husband and I never got to take any photos. I’m not sure how it’s done. I’m flexible with dates whenever it fits your schedule."

I immediately wrote her back. I hate the thought of anyone not having any wedding photos, even if it's just a few.

Since summer was knocking at the door, and since we both HATE the heat, we decided to wait until the fall for their couples photo shoot.

For the first part of our photo session, Fatimah and her husband Ali were dressed in their wedding finery. She bought the dress just for the photo shoot! We spent a perfect Wednesday afternoon in late October at Garvan Woodland Garden's in Hot Springs. If you're wanting to do a photo shoot at Garvan in the fall, mid-week is the time to do it! The gardens was nearly empty. We practically had the place to ourselves.

After the "formal" wedding photos, Fatimah and Ali changed into something a little more casual for a few more photos.
