Eight Years Later

He's still the best thing I ever did.

Today, November 4th, I celebrate eight wonderful years of marriage with my husband, Mike McCall.

He's my rock, my soul, my best friend, my loudest cheerleader and my harshest critic. He pushes me to be a better photographer each and every day.

Many of my clients have seen Mike helping at weddings, both as my second photographer and being what we like to call "Light Mike." When the schedule is tight, he'll show up at the end of the wedding just to help me set up and tear down lights for the family formals. He's also my lighting whiz on many of my bridal sessions too.

He's not the kind of guy to tell me what I want to hear. He's brutally honest, almost to a fault. If something is not 100% perfect with my photos, he's not going to hold my hand and make me feel better. He's going to simply tell me to figure it out and make damn sure I don't do it again. It can sting sometimes, but I'd rather hear the truth than some sappy, sugar-coated version of the truth.

As two people who spend their lives behind the camera, we rarely find ourselves in front of it. But here are a few random selfies and snaps we took over the years while working on various video and photo shoots.

I love this man dearly. Putting up with me ain't easy (and the same goes for him) but we're a good fit for each other.

I think I'll keep him.
